Day 5 in the Philippines
This morning, everyone woke up to delicious pancakes and fried eggs with bread.
After our delicious breakfast, we took the boat to the sailing club.
We got there and rigged our boats up and got ready for the regatta (races).
Everyone managed to complete three races and have fun!
After the three super fun races, we all sailed to a beach and had an amazing lunch- picnic style- prepared by Chef Antoine!
When we were done, some of us went snorkeling, and some of us stayed on the island and prepared to sail back to the island. Once the others were done, we all sailed to the island and took some quick showers and freshened up to go to the Puerto Gallera town for some shopping.
After shopping, we headed to the Yacht Club where we received our certificates and medals, then, some silly prizes. Sophie and I got armbands for capsizing so much!
We had a yummy dinner, and then sailed back to El Galleon where we all went straight to bed!

Day 4 in the Philippines
" This morning, for breakfast I had one of Antoine's delicious pancakes with syrup, a a tasty chocolate croissant, and some ice-tea. At the yacht club there were a lot of colorful shops which sold clothing, sun-glasses, necklaces, and a lot of small souvenirs. The yacht was very big and we all took turns steering. We sailed for about two hours. Lunch was at the resort, and after wards we walked to a jeepny which brought us to the school. The children were all very kind and cute and talked excellent English! Kiran and I had fun reading a book to them and teaching them how to play hangman. They participated well and enjoyed it. We also played games with them outside. When we came back, everyone went swimming except for Kiran and I who started writing our journals."

"This morning was a day with no sailing. We got up to do the usual routine -- get up, eat breakfast, get on the boat to make our way to the island. But today, instead of making our way to the island, we went to another island where they try getting us to buy so many things! I ended up getting blue fake ray-bans. We then got on a yacht. The yacht was (thankfully)big enough for all of us and I even got to control the boat. It was scary, but the yacht was controlled exactly the same as the dinghy's, which made it so much easier to control, but you were responsible for like 17 lives. When the boat tipped on its side and we were close to close to capsizing -- (even though you couldn't actually capsize) it was scariest thing ever! We had lunch at the resort (burgers) and it was amazing. After lunch we did community service at an elementary school. We set up 6 computers for them and then Maurits and I went to a classroom of 2nd graders and read them a book . Then they danced and sang for us and we taught them the itsy-bitsy spider. Afterwards, Zak, Maurits, Sofian and I taught 3 classes of 8-13 year olds the game 'Heads up, seven up' which went well. We then had to teach the entire school (at a time) games and it was utter chaos. After we came back, swam in the pool, took a shower had dinner and that was yet another great day...

Day 2 Sailing in the Philippines
Today was a very successful day! The students have improved so much at their sailing skills and the instructors are very proud of them. They had an opportunity to sail with their DAA buddies today and proved to be much more independent than yesterday (less capsizing!). The students enjoyed snorkelling today after lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the variety of beautiful coral and fish they saw. On the way back to the resort we stopped for another snorkelling area called coral beach. They really loved this as we managed to catch glimpses of some massive blue colored starfish, parrot fish, puffer fish, eel etc. Lots of fun had by all! The food is delicious here at the resort and they send a wonderful lunch (with freshly baked cookies) to us at the sailing venue every day. The students are exhausted after another action packed day in the sun so I'm sure they'll sleep well tonight:)
